Sustainability on NNRs is about managing them for their nature, landscapes and visitor interests whilst reducing any adverse environmental impacts from that management or finding positive environmental actions. 

In practice, this can include:

• reducing CO₂ emissions from our Reserve management operations
• sequestering CO₂ - especially in peatland soils and woodlands
• using greener materials and methods to manage Reserves
