Peatlands - A Guide to Educational Activities for Schools

In 2013 Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) staff who manage Blawhorn Moss NNR worked with a contractor to develop a new guide about Peatlands linked to the Curriculum for Excellence (CfE).

The guide is designed to help primary school teachers to run themed projects on peat and peatlands. It illustrates how the CfE can be delivered in practice by blending indoor/outdoor learning with an emphasis on peatlands. The curriculum map shows the main relevant themes teachers can develop to deliver their lessons.

Resources can be used to plan projects and/or site visits. Some of the resources listed are advanced which makes the guide suitable for use in Secondary Schools.

Peatlands - A Guide to Educational Activities for Schools  Word document (revised April 2014) is written for the Primary School sector and contains references to the Curriculum for Excellence (CfE).
